Having a child in college, far away from home and needing an attorney, I was refereed to Rhea Tannehill. It didn’t take more than five minutes of conversation to realize I had made the absolute right decision. Rhea was very easy to talk to and NEVER, not once, was he judgmental. When I was facing a DUI charge in Oxford I really didn’t like the circumstances of the whole night. I was left with another bad taste in my mouth about the police. They had wrongfully charged me with DUI and I wasn’t drunk/high. A friend referred me to Jay and it was the best thing I could have done considering what I was facing. There are no words to describe the gratitude I feel for Jay Carmean and his team. My son was in serious trouble and his bright future at stake. Charged with a non-expungable felony with intent, he ended up with a reduction in the felony and 1 year in a prison rehab. My son does not deserve to be in jail 650 miles away from home, but the charges he was facing were life-wrecking and Jay helped turned an absolute nightmare into a bad dream. The Mississippi system is vastly different than Michigan and Jay did a great job navigating us through the lengthy process. Now that my son is behind bars, Jay is still there for me and my son. I just received my son’s tennis shoes in the mail after Jay went to the jail to retrieve them. I asked if he can take him some earplugs to help give him some basic comfort against belligerent cell mates who blare the television and yell constantly. He said of course. For a mother to be separated from her beloved son like this, it is comforting to have lawyer who goes above and beyond. Jay Carmean is my hero. Someone needs to get that man a cape!

I found out the hard way that there had been an outstanding warrant for my arrest for a violation I thought had been taken care of a couple years prior that lead to me being held in jail. I contacted Jay regarding my predicament and within a few hours, I could post bail and start the process of rectifying the situation. I was very scared and confused about the situation and process and possible repercussions. Jay knew this and in his office, he explained everything and answered every question to the point where I could finally relax a little. He then explained what he was going to do and within a day, he notified me of what he did (phone calls and paperwork), what I had to do and, helped me to be cleared of most of the charges. His upfront approach of interacting with me (as well as other clients of his I’ve spoken with) and his professionalism, let alone his overall knowledge of the law, made a horrifying situation manageable and I can never thank him enough.
