J. RHEA TANNEHILL, JR.

Atty. Tannehill has been practicing law in Oxford since 1996. He graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Law. After passing the bar, he started representing clients in the areas of personal injury and criminal defense. In addition to his civil practice, Rhea currently serves as school board attorney for North Panola and Municipal Court Judge of Sardis, Mississippi, where he previously served as Municipal Court Prosecutor. Rhea has served as a member of the Mississippi Army National Guard since 1992. He has also rendered legal assistance to all soldiers on the forwards operating base. Now serving in the rank of Major, Rhea is the Brigade Trial Counsel for the 168th Engineering Brigade in Vicksburg, Mississippi, which recently returned (December 2009) from a year long deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Rhea was stationed at Forward Operating Base Sharana, Afghanistan. Rhea is also a member of the Lafayette County Bar and the Tri-County Jr. Bar Associations. He served as President in both organizations.

JAY P. CARMEAN

Atty. Carmean has represented criminal defendants and injured parties for more than a decade in Oxford and Lafayette County, Mississippi. After graduating from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 1999, he worked as law clerk for a Presiding Justice of the Mississippi Supreme Court then joined Tollison Law Firm where he eventually was made a partner. Jay joined Rhea Tannehill, Jr. in 2004 to form Tannehill, Carmean, PLLC. In 2011, the firm officially changed it’s name to Tannehill, Carmean & McKenzie as Matt McKenzie was named partner. Jay is the former President of the Lafayette County Bar Association as well as the Lafayette County Oxford Ole Miss Alumni Association. He served four years as the Chairman of the Oxford Planning Commission. He currently serves on the Mississippi Association for Justice’s Leader’s Forum. Jay is originally from Caruthersville, Missouri.

MATTHEW S. MCKENZIE

Atty. McKenzie's area of practice includes family law, wills and estates, debt collection and real estate loan closings. After graduating from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 2006, he immediately joined Tannehill & Carmean, PLLC. Matt is a native of Florence, Alabama, and is the youngest of five children who all attended the University of Mississippi. He was a member of the Intra-Fraternity Council, Lambda Sigma, Order of Omega, Mortar Board, Omicron Delta Kappa, Beta Gamma Sigma, Alpha Lambda Delta, and was also a Class Favorite his senior year at Ole Miss.

JACOB JORDAN

Jacob is the newest addition to Tannehill, Carmean, & McKenzie. While in law school, Jacob was a student attorney and staff researcher with the Mississippi Innocence Project, in which he partnered with attorneys and other students to represent inmates with viable claims of innocence. Jacob drafted petitions for post conviction relief in Hinds County, Mississippi, that resulted in the exoneration of Matthew Norwood, who had previously served fourteen years in prison despite being factually innocent. Following law school, Jacob had the honor to serve as law clerk to the Honorable Michael P. Mills, Chief United States District Judge for the Northern District of Mississippi. Following his clerkship, Jacob opened his own law firm, Jordan Law Firm, PLLC.

EDWARD J.BOGEN, JR.

Atty. Bogen serves as the Senior Partner in McGee and Bogen and of counsel in Tannehill, Carmean & McKenzie. In his over 35 years of legal experience, he has handled business law, criminal defense, and general litigation. Josh graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 1969, and ever since, has been providing legal services across the state. In 2003, Josh was President of the Mississippi Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and is currently on the National Board. Membership in ABOTA is limited to less than 1% of lawyers in each state. He is also a fellow of the Mississippi Bar Foundation.
