Annie Tidwell
Oxford resident Annie Tidwell was on her way to work in the early morning hours of July 4, 2011 when she was run off the road by a drunk driver, who then fled the scene before being arrested by the Oxford Police. Annie suffered a fractured spine and required surgery. Within a month of filing suit in Lafayette County Circuit court, the matter was settled. Annie is pictured with her attorney, Jay Carmean.

Dejoria Ingram
Dejoria Ingram is shown standing next to her mother, Christi Jackson after reaching a settlement in her case. Dejoria was injured in her school gymnasium when one of the doors came off its hinges and trapped her on the ground. Her family hired Jay Carmean and within one year of the accident a settlement was reached.

Thelma Womble
Clarksdale resident, Thelma Womble, was traveling down Ohio Street when a portion of the street collapsed under her car. As a direct result, Ms. Womble’s car fell into the hole created by the collapsed road, causing damage to her car and serious injuries to her. She hired Tannehill, Carmean & McKenzie, PLLC to pursue a cause of action against the contractor responsible for building the road. Antonio Jones
In April of 2010, Antonio Jones was struck by another vehicle on I-55 in Panola County, Mississippi. His injuries required him to be airlifted to The Med in Memphis, Tennessee. Antonio and his family hired Tannehill,

Teresa Jordan
In December of 2007, Teresa Jordan was on her way home from work with her three young sons when her vehicle was struck by a GMC Suburban. Ms. Jordan and her children were all injured as a result of the collision. After negotiations with the defendant’s insurance company broke down, Ms. Jordan hired Tannehill, Carmean & McKenzie, PLLC to file suit. A settlement was reached the month prior to trial.

Estate of Sherry York Griffin
Attorney Jay Carmean and paralegal Jane Claire Abel are pictured with the children of Sherry York Griffin. Their mother was killed in 2010 at an intersection in Marks, Mississippi as the result of a drunk driver. Tannehill, Carmean & McKenzie was hired to file suit on behalf of the estate. Bridgett Crawley
On February 11th, 2011, Lafayette County resident Bridgett Crawley was traveling east on University Avenue in Oxford, Mississippi. She was struck from behind and her vehicle was pushed into the lane of oncoming traffic traveling west, where another vehicle collided with her. Less than a year after hiring Rhea Tannehill, her case was settled, allowing her to pay off her medical bills and receive compensation.

Iris Robinson
Jay Carmean is pictured with Shaddoe Robinson, Iris Robinson and Clyde Reynolds during a recent settlement disbursement. In 2008, a drunk driver ran their vehicle off the road in Washington County, Mississippi. All were injured, including Iris, who was paralyzed from the waist down. After three years of litigation against the driver and his employer, a policy limits settlement was reached.

Peter Wirth
Jay Carmean and paralegal Jane Claire Abel are pictured with Peter Wirth following a settlement disbursement. On the afternoon of February 18th, 2011, Peter was driving on Mississippi Highway 30 when a driver in the opposite lane fell asleep and swerved into his lane. Mr. Wirth suffered several injuries, including a broken leg. He hired TCM Law to seek reimbursement for his medical bills and compensation for his injuries. A policy limits settlement was reached within six months.

Joan Butler
In early 2008, Joan Butler was crossing University Avenue on the University of Mississippi campus on her way to see a performance at the Ford Center. While walking in the cross-walk, she was struck by a student driving an SUV, exceeding the speed limit. Ms. Butler was knocked unconscious and suffered several injuries, causing her to miss work as a pharmacist. John Yarbrough
Jay Carmean is pictured with client John Yarbrough and father Linnie Yarbrough. John hired Tannehill & Carmean after being charged with aggravated assault. The charge was a felony and carried a 20 year prison sentence. After two days of trial, a Lafayette County jury took only an hour to reduce the charge from felony aggravated assault to misdemeanor simple assault. (Local attorney, Josh Turner, served as co-counsel for the defense.)

Michael Hayes
Michael Hayes of New Albany, Mississippi suffered life threatening injuries while at work in May of 2007. His employer refused to pay any of his medical bills or lost wages. After hiring Jay Carmean, the outstanding medical bills totaling close to $250,000 were paid by the employer and Mr. Hayes received a confidential settlement.

Davie Lee Jones
Pictured with Rhea Tannehill and Jay Carmean are Reverend Virgil Lee Jones and his brother, John L. Jones, of Oxford. Their brother, Davie Lee Jones, was performing maintenance on Hwy 278 just outside of Oxford for the Mississippi Dept. of Transportation when he was struck and killed by an 18 wheeler. A lawsuit on behalf of all wrongful death beneficiaries was filed in Lafayette County Circuit Court. An investigation by Tannehill & Carmean revealed that the 18 wheeler had multiple equipment violations that should have rendered the vehicle out of service the day of the accident and the wrongful death claim was settled through mediation.

Reverend Curtis McCall
Reverend Curtis McCall and Rhea Tannehill are pictured above after their recent settlement was obtained in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi on behalf of his son's estate. Rev. McCall hired Tannehill & Carmean to represent his late son's estate in a wrongful death case. Tannehill & Carmean sued a rural Mississippi county after they failed to properly care for Rev. McCall's son at their jail, which led to his untimely death.

Curtis Sharkey
Curtis Sharkey is pictured with attorney Jay Carmean. Mr. Sharkey was traveling through Clarksdale, Mississippi on his Honda motorcycle when he was struck by a pickup truck from the rear. His motorcycle was a total loss and he suffered injuries to his neck, shoulder, knees and abdomen. A lawsuit was filed by Tannehill & Carmean in Coahoma County and a confidential settlement was reached shortly thereafter.

Johnny Miller
Tannehill & Carmean client Johnny Miller was rear-ended by a tractor trailer on March 8, 2008 while driving on Mississippi Highway 30. He suffered numerous broken ribs and vertebrae and spent over a week in the hospital. Once a familiar face at Bottletree Bakery in Oxford, Johnny was not able to return to work as a busboy. Less than a year after hiring Tannehill & Carmean to file suit on his behalf, a confidential settlement was reached at mediation.

Client Essie Scott
Client Essie Scott of Alligator, Mississippi is pictured with civil paralegal Megan Sealy. In November of 2006, Ms. Scott’s vehicle was struck in the side while at an intersection. She suffered paralyzing injuries and hired Tannehill & Carmean in hopes of recovering enough money to pay for her medical bills and future medical treatment. Amanda Hutchison is pictured with attorney Matt McKenzie. Amanda was injured when the vehicle she was driving was run off the road by an 18 wheeler on Eason Boulevard in Tupelo, Mississippi. Amanda came to Tannehill & Carmean after the insurer for the trucking company denied liability and refused to pay for her medical bills. A lawsuit was filed in the County Court of Lee County and a settlement was reached just before trial.
